The new BMW F900GS is proving to be a capable adventure bike. There are many who will take it for prolonged rides off the beaten paths. Choosing the right luggage is probably as important as choosing the right bike. Mosko moto Reckless 80 V4.0 might just be the perfect match for those adventures. With its rugged construction and versatile design, it’s built to handle rough terrains and extended journeys. Bags are shown here in minimalist configuration, without the tail bag under Beaver tail, and with aux-pox empty.
F900GS has a slim rear end, and doesn't come with any sort of luggage mount. To enable installation of tail bags, and provide secure mounting point for rack-less luggage systems, we have designed Perun moto BMW F900GS Top luggage rack.
If you want to read more about design features of the rack, check DEDICATED BLOG POST HERE.
Rack offers several slots which can be used to attach upper straps of the Reckless 80. This makes for a solid mount. All edges on the Top luggage rack are chamfered which will prolong lifespan of the straps.
For those who prefer using the Gnoblin to install the Reckless 80, there are several pre-drilled holes on our rack designed for its mounting.
Mounting the Gnoblin in position shown above puts the Reckless 80 in optimal place (IMO, of course). Now, if your fingers aren't super dexterous and thin, it's best to remove the rear two bolts on top rack side supports (marked with red circle in photo below). The spacers will fall out so keep an eye for them. Barely loosen the front two bolts. This will enable the rack to pivot up, giving easy access for installation of the Gnoblin.
Gnoblin is easily installed on harness of the Reckless 80 as well. There are different positions so choose what works best for you.
Using the Gnoblin makes for a clean looking setup and should speed up installation and removal of the bags.
For clarification, all remaining photos in this blog show the Reckless 80 installed with the straps. Fit and positioning is the same as with the Gnoblin.
The front of Perun moto BMW F900GS Top luggage rack is angled to provide a smoother surface for the bottom of the bag to rest on. However, it's expected that the rubber foam base will show signs of wear over time.
Lower straps can be attached to OEM passenger foot-rest brackets. For riders who usually ride alone, we have designed Perun moto BMW F900GS Tie-down brackets. Meant as a lightweight replacement for foot-rest brackets, our Tie-down brackets have a slim profile and will stay out of the way. They have several slots suitable for strapping the luggage. Again, all edges are chamfered and strap friendly.
Legs on the harness are set in position 4, the steepest one.
Mosko moto Reckless 80 V4.0 has a stiff composite harness. This gives it enough rigidity and self support that there is no need for additional side supports. Leg holsters are stable and there is no risk of them getting tangled in rear wheel or chain.
RHS bag is touching the heat shield on silencer. Bag's material is heat resistant so there shouldn't be any issues. Just keep an eye on it.
Entire Reckless 80 setup is a little wider than stock handlebars. Perspective distortion in photo makes the difference look bigger than it really is.
This short video provides an overview of Mosko moto Reckless 80 V4.0 mounted on BMW F900GS.
