We’ve always loved our Mosko Moto bags and have used nearly all of them over the years. So when the new, lighter line of rack-less bags was announced, we were excited. And now we finally have the Alpine 60 Rackless in our hands. Let’s take a look at how it fits and works on the BMW F900GS, and I’ll add some personal impressions at the end.

This video gives a nice overview with detailed installation instructions.
The bike is equipped with our Mini Top Rack which was designed with one main purpose: to offer a convenient place to mount the Mosko moto's Gnoblin, enabling fast installation of their rack-less luggage systems.

Mini top rack offers four different positions for the Gnoblin. Alpine 60 fits the bike the best when rearmost hole is used.
Sometime over the last year or so, Mosko started including additional spacers with the Gnoblin. At first we didn't pay attention to them. But, after giving them a try it's safe to say that these simple spacers considerably improve user experience.
By raising the Gnoblin button slightly, mounting and dismounting of the Reckless bags becomes easier. If you own an older version of the Gnoblin, easiest way to obtain the same result is by adding a stack of flat washers between the Mini rack and the Gnoblin button.

Once the Gnoblin clicks into place, upper part of the Alpine 60 has nowhere to move. Mini rack has a narrow profile and harness of the Alpine 60 has no contact with it - besides the Gnoblin connection. This reduces stress on the rack and also prevents wear and tear of the replaceable foam on the underside of the harness.
Lower straps attach to our Tie-down brackets. The brackets can be mounted either pointing forward or backward, providing relatively large range of adjustment.

Since the bags are most stable when strap length is kept at a minimum, we recommend mounting the Tie-down brackets pointing forward. Then use the front most slot to secure the strap, as shown below.

Excess strap length can be cut off, secured with the velcro loop or wrapped. Cutting is the simplest and quickest option, just pay attention to leave enough free length to have something to pull on.

Despite the F900GS having a very slim rear end, Alpine 60 sits securely and there is practically no bouncing.

Adding our Rackless supports to the bike makes little difference in the fit of Alpine 60. The bags work great on their own and there is no risk of them getting tangled in rear wheel.

Low slung exhaust of the F900GS stays out of the way and there is plenty of daylight between it and the RHS bag. If the bags are positioned as shown here, the risk of heat damage is negligible. Doesn't hurt to use a heat shield as a precaution though.

And this rounds up the fitment part of the story. Let's quickly switch attention to the Alpine 60 bags themselves. This will be a personal impression so YMMV :)
After using the Alpine 60 for one prolonged weekend trip and a couple of day rides on different bikes, I think it's safe to say that this is becoming my favorite rackless setup from Mosko moto. I love the simple, minimalistic design and low weight.

Despite the name suggesting 60 liters of capacity, subjective feeling is that Alpine 60 provides more space than the Reckless 80. I guess a real, objective test is needed to confirm if I'm right or wrong. I will easily pack for a camping trip with this setup.
Side bags have large openings making them easily accessible.
15l tail bag straps to the harness with four buckles and provides additional storage space when needed.

A clean, simple setup that fits the F900GS incredibly well and one that’s quickly becoming our go-to choice for lightweight, rack-less travel.
