Navigation units and tablets with larger screen sizes are gaining popularity in recent years. There's a good reason for this: larger, high quality screens are easier to see which makes the riding safer. Over the past months we fell in love with our Garmin Tread SxS. It's one of the GPS units we're constantly switching from one bike to the other. With an 8-inch display, the Tread offers excellent readability and its software runs smoothly.
We have just launched a brand new GPS and Tablet Holder for 12mm bars. This is a completely redesigned version of our well known R12 Bar clamp. Major reason for the new design was to enable installation of larger devices like DMD Navigation Tab or Garmin Tread. Other units of similar size will work just as well.
We're showing the GPS and Tablet holder on a 2025 Yamaha Tenere 700, but it's a universal product that should work on most bikes that have 12mm crossbar above the dashboard.

This is accomplished by incorporating a mounting plate with large vertical adjustment range. To further increase the adjustability, mounting plate features threaded holes in APMS bolt pattern in several different height positions.

Once the GPS and Tablet holder is mounted onto the 12mm crossbar, installing the Tread's cradle is simple. Just four bolts and flat washers are needed to attach it onto the holder. Since mounting plate has formed threads, there is no need to use nuts on the back side and installation can be done without removing the windscreen.

Connecting the charging cable into the bike's electrical installation is a different topic and we'll not go into it here.
With the cradle in place, mounting the Tread itself takes just a couple of seconds. When it's inserted into the cradle, the magnets will help hold it while locking tab is closed. This is extremely secure device mount, designed for serious off-road abuse.

Even with limited space between 12mm crossbar and the dashboard, our GPS and Tablet holder provides enough adjustability so the tablet doesn't cover any part of the dash.
