When it comes to lightweight adventure bikes like the KTM 690 Enduro, luggage space is always a challenge. For weekend getaways or short trips, the Kriega US-30 Drypack is an excellent solution - spacious, waterproof, and sleek enough to complement the lines of the bike. In this post, I’ll walk you through how I installed the US-30 on my 690 using a Perun moto Luggage rack and Extension plate, along with some tips that make the setup more secure and rider-friendly.
For the most convenient installation on the KTM 690 Enduro, we have equipped the bike with Perun moto Luggage rack and Extension plate. The bag’s relatively large footprint benefits from extra support. That’s why I recommend adding the Perun Moto Extension Plate to the luggage rack - it gives the US-30 a solid base to sit on.
First step of the installation is to mount Kriega OS-Rack loops to the underside of the Extension plate. OS-Rack loops come in two different variants (Regular and KTM fit) and both will work just fine. In order to keep the top surface of Extension plate flat, I'm using the countersunk bolts which have to be sourced separately. With the bag removed, OS-Rack loops are barely noticeable.
When installing the OS-Rack loops, there is no need to overtighten the bolts. Hypalon loop should be able to rotate freely. To prevent the OS-Rack loops from coming undone, you can use a drop of mild thread locking agent or a flat washer and safety nut on the underside. I chose the second option as this is not a permanent setup.
To finalize installation of the US-30, simply attach G-hook straps onto the OS-rack loops, buckle the other side into clips on the bag and tighten everything up. Really can't get much easier than that.
Following video gives a nice overview of the installation and fit of the bag to our Extension plate.
Because of its size, the US-30 will partially block the KTM 690’s fuel cap. You can usually fill up without removing the bag, but for convenience it’s often easier to just release the two front buckles and tilt the bag back.
After testing, the bag feels secure and doesn’t shift even when loaded. The Extension Plate provides the stability needed for the US-30’s footprint, and the whole setup can be removed quickly if needed. Here are a few more photos from different angles, to give a better idea of how Kriega US-30 looks on a KTM 690.
If you’re looking for a tail bag that works as well off-road as it does on the highway, the US-30 is hard to beat.
