It's not a secret that I'm a fan of Kriega US-40 Rackpack. It is my go-to choice as an additional tail bag for longer camping trips. Thanks to its adjustable size, the US-40 easily adapts to varying loads during traveling (adding or removing thermal layers, grocery shopping before heading to the campsite and similar). This setup works on many different bikes, and Husqvarna 701 is certainly not an exception.
The US-40 has a large footprint and needs proper support to make it stable during off-road ventures. Our Husqvarna 701 Luggage rack follows the slim lines of the 701's tail section. making it too narrow for bags of this size. Luckily, Extension plate quickly and easily bolts onto the rack becoming a perfect platform.
Mounting the US-40 is simple. Pass the G-hook straps through the slots on the Extension plate, attach one end to the bag’s loop, and buckle up the other end. Tighten the straps, and the bag will stay securely in place, even on rough terrain. The chamfered edges of the extension plate protect the straps from wear and tear, ensuring durability over time.
This type of strapping works best when the bag is tightly packed. If the bag is only partially filled, cinch straps that wrap over the top of the US-40 may provide a more secure hold.
Here’s a quick video showing how the US-40 mounts to the 701 with our Extension plate:
Fuel cap remains accessible so there is no need to remove the bag for refueling.
The Kriega US-40 Rackpack features multiple attachment points for smaller bags or accessories. Whether you want to add a Kriega 2l OS-Bottle holder or additional US-Drybags for organizing smaller items, the US-40 makes it easy to customize your setup.
I like having the 2l bottle holder mounted at most times. This small add-on is perfect for first aid kit, mini chain spray and few other items.
Here are a few photos of the US-40 mounted on the Husqvarna 701, shown from different angles.
Whether you're packing light or gearing up for a full camping trip, the US-40 and Husky 701 are a proven combination for adventure travel..
