When it comes to bike luggage, simple is usually the safest bet. You don’t always need massive panniers or an elaborate setup, particularly for short day rides. That’s where the Kriega US-10 Drypack comes in. It’s a compact, waterproof bag that’s the right size for carrying essentials on a BMW R1300GS.
I’ve mounted the US-10 to the Perun Moto BMW R1300GS Top Luggage Rack – Sport, which makes installation incredibly straightforward. The rack has pre-drilled holes for Kriega OS-Rack loops, so there's no need to get creative with mounting points.
OS-Rack loops mount to the underside of the rack, leaving the top surface flat. Both the standard Kriega OS-Rack Loops and the KTM-specific version work just fine here. Personally, I found the KTM loops (the ones with the wide, flat flange on top) sit a bit flusher with the rack’s surface, giving a slightly cleaner look. But either will get the job done securely.
When using the standard OS-Rack loops, it’s a good idea to add a flat washer and a nylock nut underneath to keep the loops secure. Alternatively, you can use a mild thread-locking agent instead of the safety nut—as I have done here.
Once it’s on, the bag pretty much disappears while riding. No movement, no rattling, and it doesn’t get in the way—exactly what you want for a single-day setup. It’s big enough for a rain layer, tire repair kit, snacks, and a few other essentials, but not bulky enough to notice when you're on the road.
