    Ride pictures - July 2015. - Stara planina, SRB

    Four day camping ride. My first camping ride ever. Stara planina is around 350 km's far from Belgrade, so one day was to travel to there, one day was for riding back home and two days on Stara planina - around 950 km in total. Stara planina is Serbian part of Balkans mountain range. There is highest summit in Central Serbia - Midžor, also highest summit in Balkan mountain's - 2.169 meters.

    Here is day 2 and 3 track - start is on Camp 1. From there we tried to follow Serbia - Bulgaria border, but we stuck in forest, so had to turn back and reach second camp site and few nearby summits from valley. On second day, we rode back into the valley, then towards Pirot for refueling, then towards Midžor, passing Zavoj lake and Topli Do village. Third camp was bellow Babin zub ('Grandma's tooth') summit. Little less then 250 km for two days - distance was not significant, but we did a lot of exploring, and found few dead ends. 

    We were in a group of three - two 2008 KTM's 690 Enduro and BMW HP2 Enduro. 

    KTM's both with Touratech Pannier rack and Perun moto Luggage rack. I had Rotopax on the luggage rack and Wolfman Expedition Dry Saddlebags, fixed on TT racks using Perun moto Add-on plates. Oleg had Kriega Overlander 60 and roll bag and tent on luggage rack. Both setups performed well, but since this is our first camping ride we will surely change few things for next rides. HP 2 had Kriega US-40 combo (US-20 + 2 x US-10's) on luggage rack. 

    Bellow is our first camp site (ever). On Pregrada summit, 1680 m.

    Great riding on Stara planina, mostly above tree level...

    ...but sometimes on 'high grass level'. :)

    And our second camp site. Land of Teletabis. There was spring near, so we encountered lot of wild life - rabbits, wild cats and bucks. Not to mention all kind of sounds in the middle of the night.  

    Serbia - Bulgaria border is near, so we had short trip to European Union. This KTM went 2 meters into Bulgaria.

    Riding to and back from Stara planina is not enjoyable ride for bikes with Pirelli Scorpion XC MH tires, but it was well worth it.
