Can you use a large rack-less luggage setup, such as Mosko Moto Reckless 80 V4.0, on a small adventure bike? In case of the KTM 390 Adventure R, the answer is yes.
The video above gives an overview of the fit and features, as well as detailed mounting instructions onto the Perun Moto Top luggage rack and Heel guards.
The bike in stock form has no means of securing any luggage on its tail. To make it easier to use rack-less and tail bags on this bike, we have developed a Top luggage rack. Shape of the bike dictated design of the rack. What we came up with is different from any other rack we designed before. Super lightweight, all aluminum rack with narrow profile. Testing has shown that this design works perfectly with rackless bags and small tail bags.

Slots on the rear of the rack can be used to mount the Reckless 80 by straps. It's a proven option used by many.

For those looking for a more convenient and faster mounting option, we strongly recommend using the Mosko moto Gnoblin. A simple on-off quick release mounting system. The rack provides three different pre-drilled holes for the installation of the Gnoblin. The front hole puts the Reckless 80 in optimal position.

Composite harness of the R80 has two positions for the Gnoblin. Our testing has shown that the front position on the harness works better.

In fact, this placement of the Gnoblin is the only one I can recommend for this bike. Using the second hole on the harness pushes the R80 too much forward, resulting in LHS bag touching the sidestand. Using middle or rear hole on the rack leaves the side holsters of the R80 largely unsupported. This could result in bags getting tangled in rear wheel or damaged by the chain.

At the same time, this position leaves enough room for the rider. With the 22l Stinger tail bag mounted beneath the beavertail, as shown here, seat does get a bit cramped. Especially if using a larger backpack.
To compliment the speed and ease of using the Gnoblin on the rack, our Heel guards for the 390 feature quick release cutout on one of the strap slots. With it, there is no need to thread the entire strap through the slot each time the bags are mounted or dismounted. Simply slide the strap trough the cutout and tension it. It takes just a couple of seconds to do so.

Resulting fit of the Reckless 80 is excellent. Side panels of the bike offer enough support for the front lower part of the bags to make them very stable. The entire setup is still narrower than the stock handlebars which is always a good thing.

Integrated grab handles on the rack are partially blocked by the R80 harness, but they can still be used when needed.

Overall, this is a great luggage option when a lot of packing space is needed. Bullet-proof design of the Reckless 80, with numerous attachment points for adding small external pouches makes it a popular choice among riders.
