I am not fan of hard luggage, but for commuting, top cases are undeniably practical. Since this addition is meant only for on road, we tried how largest top case we could find would fit on Oleg's 1090 Adventure R - Givi/Kappa 58 ltr. top case.
I took some time to check how throttle bodies look after 1400 km's, including 500 km off road. So far, so good, everything inside the air box is spotless. I took some precaution measures, just for peace of mind.
My 1090 Adventure R will be used off road a lot, so I was searching for decent skid plate. Lot of aftermarket stuff for this bike is on the market, so there are several very good options. Mounting system is main difference between competitors.
I often ride in Enduro style boots, like TCX Pro 2.1. This gives me much needed protection, but it leaves scars on bikes. Since my 1090 is brand new, protecting nice orange trellis frame seemed like a good idea.
I recently got 2018 KTM 1090 Adventure R, and my 2016 KTM 690 Adventure R got new owner (but it is still very close). First ride on new bike was through scenic landscapes of Đerdap National park, 500 km of nice roads, including 150 km of highways. My initial impressions follows.
